Q Why are they called “Portable” Makeup Stations?
A Our Makeup Stations are easily handled by one individual their light weight and size makes them desirable for locations around the world.
Q Why different colors of light, and what are they?
A Daylight and Tungsten are the two types of light that are used in the Film and Television industries.
Q Is the color temperature of light important to Hairdressers?
A Yes, especially when you are dealing with hair that has been colored, or when they are using a wig on someone.
Q What is double switched?
A There are 6 lamps in each Makeup Station. 3 are daylight color temp and 3 are tungsten color temp. Double switches means the first switch turns on the 3 daylight temp lamps and the second switch turns on the tungsten temp lamps.
Q How do I know what color of light to use and when?
A You should always apply makeup under the smae lighting conditions the makeup will be seen in. Examples: An outdoor afternoon wedding- the makeup artists should use the daylight temp lamps. An indoor evening wedding – the makeup artist should use the tungsten temp lamps.
Q Can they be shipped?
A Your Makeup Station was designed to be transported in a car or van. Never ship (FEDEX, UPS, Delta, etc.) the Makeup Station without placing it in a protective box. This will ensure that the tubes and mirror will arrive safely at your destination.
Q Do they work overseas? They have different power don’t they?
A Rental Makeup Stations are all built to work on 120v(US) power. However, if requested, we could retrofit them for your countries requirements. Sales units are built specifically for your countries requirements.
Q How do I set one up?
A Setting Up: Place the Portable Makeup Station on a table or other suitable surface with the back brace facing to the back. Extend the back brace away from the case a few inches for support before the lid is removed.
 
Opening: Placing your index finger under the tail of one of the latches, pull upward on the tail to open the latch. All four latches are opened in the same manner. Remove the lid. An extension cord is stored in the lid. You should remove the extension cord at this time.
 
Power: First, plug one end of the extension cord into the side of the Station. Then plug the other end into a properly grounded 120v power source. Make sure the cord is firmly seated.
 
Light Switches: The two switches are independent of each other and can be turned on separately or at the same time.
 
Power outlets: The power outlets are not switched. Power is always on to them once the Station is plugged in.
Q When should I use a Portable Makeup Station?
A Portable Makeup Stations should be used whenever and wherever color correct lighting is desired. On film sets, photo shoots, commercial shoots, music videos, retail sales, the list is enormous. Bright, color correct lighting is an essential requirement for a Makeup Artist to do the job required of them.
